This series contains the files of material collected by the State Auditor for cases in which the state was the plaintiff in efforts to retrieve money owed it, specifically for taxes due to the state, from tax collectors or other individuals. The files contain correspondence and reports from attorneys, government officials, and others involved in the case giving information on the case or the individual in question. Cases represented include the State vs. individuals such as James W. Gullatt, S.D. Houston, W.J. Hutchinson, E.L. James, W.R. Julian, John C. McBride, W.H.H. McDonald, B.D. Williams, W.G.
